TEA is a community group taking action to tackle
the invasive weed and pest problem in Thames.
Help us create a thriving native forest that enhances
the wellbeing of our environment and the people.
Our work.
We weed, plant, plan, advocate, educate, enable, and bring people together in our common goal.
We’re spearheading a 5-year operation plan, and running a number of pilot projects.
We’re engaging stakeholders and communities, and being a positive voice for the environment.

Taking action.
Weeds have reached a tipping point and are overcoming the indigenous forest, stifling growth.
Streams covered in invasive weeds have poor bank stability, increasing sediment flowing into the Firth.
Human health and wellbeing will be improved by reducing privet pollen.

Our projects.
We are leading a variety of weeding and planting initiatives across Thames, including Operation Privet (a plan to control privet in Thames), as well as smaller projects and pilots. View all our projects.

Our partners.
Collaboration is at the heart of our kaupapa, and we thank our willing partners.

How can you help?
There are heaps of ways we can all make a positive difference to the environment in Thames.
1.
Weed our backyards. Often the most overlooked problem, we have a list of Most Wanted Weeds to look out for, and a heap of best practice tips to control them or remove them altogether.
2.
Volunteer at one of our monthly working bees. Come and make the change you want to see in this world, pick a few weeds, and meet some great, like-minded people.
3.
Donate to the Thames Environmental Alliance Charitable Trust. Every dollar goes towards scaling up our efforts to tackle the problem.
4.
Join the Thames Environmental Alliance. Be on the mailing list to hear the updates and wins we’re making. Want to do more? Contact us to chat!
